I’ve been doing some reading and some work on abundance lately and there was discussion about envisioning your life the way you want it to be. Now that sounds easy…until you go to try it. And I realized, for all my talk about the future, about what I want, about what I’m working for, it’s dang hard to try and picture yourself there.
But you have to!
Close your eyes. Find that perfect scene. Where you are doing what you want to do, living the life you want to live. Even if you don’t know all the details, like the logistics, scheduling, or anything, simply allow yourself to feel those emotions. Feel the freedom from having to worry about time or money. Feel how joyous you are because you get to make decisions regarding your life. Allow yourself to relax into the moment knowing that the things you don’t know will be filled in by the universe. And then what do you do?Allow the universe to fill in the details. Make this meditation a daily practice. Make it a prayer. No matter your spiritual beliefs, or even a lack of them, make this visualization your mantra. “Dear Universe (god/powers/my own self) I am bringing this into reality. I work to manifest this for myself every minute of every day. I live the life of which I’ve dreamed.” You’ll notice as you go that the details start to fill in. The home becomes two stories, with large windows and a hot tub on the back porch. You live where you want to live, whether that’s the mountains, the woods, or a penthouse apartment in Manhattan. The sounds become more real to you, as do the smells. Every day you are visualizing yourself the way you want to be, and every day it will get better and easier for you.
I know this sounds silly and that thinking “oh I want enough money to take care of my needs” is okay. But do you really want to manifest enough? I’m not talking about being greedy. I’m talking about having the extra to cover the car repairs and to put some away for savings or your child’s college fund. Enough so that you can be generous to the organizations you want to support. Wouldn’t it be cool if your foundation was at the end, or beginning, of your favorite PBS program “brought to you by the charitable fund of YOU”?
We can dream too small. We need to remember that the universe is limitless and abundance is not a zero sum game. So picture that perfect scene, build on it, and know that when you ask, you shall receive.
