It can be hard to remember when we are stressed out and frustrated, but our happiness comes from within us. But how do we find it if we’re worried about money or stressed about work and there’s no happiness in sight.
There are a few things we can do to remind ourselves that happiness comes from within.
First, think of happy memories. Sit down, step away from the situation if you can, and think of a happy, joyful memory when you were happy and not stressed.
That doesn’t work? Share happiness. Most of us are on Facebook or Twitter. Congratulate someone on good news. Retweet/share funny pictures or great sayings. Spend five minutes (or more) simply spreading the joy and you’ll find that you’re happier too.
Lastly, remind yourself of what’s important. The job will come and go. The money problems will ebb and flow. But your family, your friends, your pets, your life will still be here. If you have pets, curl up in the recliner with your cat or dog. Play with a dangling toy or toss a ball. If nothing else fails, looking into the eyes of your companion pet and knowing that it loves you regardless will fill you with joy.
