Listening to an online seminar this week, I heard the most wonderful thing. Start your day in gratitude. Before you even get out of bed in the morning, be grateful. For me it might be grateful that I am awake. I’m grateful the kitties are snuggled all purry cuddly next to me. I’m grateful that I’m here, in this life, and able to share my gifts with you.
I have a daily gratitude practice. In the morning, I state my intents for the day, and then I state what I am grateful for, before calling upon deity to help me. But adding this “start your day in gratitude” practice has blown me away. I feel so much more centered and calm, so much more capable of doing anything I need to do, all because I am grateful.
Being thankful for what we have in our lives only invites more abundance into our lives. I am thankful for a business which allows me to reach out and help people…well that invites and calls more people to us. I am thankful for the love and support of family…allows room for more love and support in our lives.
When we make room for even more goodness in our lives, we start to notice that our inner cup starts to run over, and we can share from our excess and not from what we need to survive. This keeps us from getting run down and keeps us from getting burnt out.
Now, you might think that being thankful for something calling more of it to us makes this a selfish practice. It isn’t. If you were to be thankful only to get more, then yeah, that’s selfish. But having gratitude out of a true sense of being thankful for what the universe provides and a feeling of being blessed…that’s spirit, baby. And when you’re living in gratitude, you have spirit to share!
